A trip to Made In Candy

WOW, last week we went to the Made In Candy outlet at United Square, to take a look at the full process of making lollipops and sweets which contain different designs such as the Smiley face. How they make it into the shape and how many types of color they use to get the final product. 

DO YOU KNOW the sweet has no expiry dates? because sugar doesn't have any expiry dates hence you can actually keep the sweet as long as you want. 

Fabric/Textiles workshop

WE ARE BACK to let you know what we had learned during this few weeks.

We had this Textile/Fabrics workshop with our Supervisor, do you know that cloth is everywhere around us. Not only the clothes we are wearing but also the table cloth, furniture, curtains and many more to go. They are all made of cloth and different type of materials which contains different amount of fabric. [Eg.: is it 100% cotton?]

Do you know about weaving? There are 3 types which is Plain weave, Satin weave, and the Twill weave which is how you overlap the lining, it has pattern in the different types of method used. Below is some of the picture that shows how it is weave using different type of methods.

 Due to scarcity of resources, human being will start to create their own Man-made Fibers using chemicals to get large amount of material they want. Most of us will recognize some of the Synthetic fiber which is Polyester (PE), Polyuntheraine (PU) as the furniture nowadays such as Sofa was mostly made of that instead of real leather.

Isn’t this very interesting? Normally, we only know the basic of a cloth but this workshop let us gain more knowledge on how to handle different type of cloth too, such as what type of cloth should use what degree of heat to iron or is it able to use cold or hot water to wash? See our colleagues were paying attention and enjoying this workshop.
